What Does It Do - The Essentials?

Lupo PenSuite provides a single source and download for a massive 180+ portable freeware applications. Not only that but the Lupo PenSuite site gives you links to more than a further 1600 portable programs along with instructions and a tutorial on how to add them to your personal “PenSuite”.This is the other portable applications pack that I have on all (most of ) my PC’s, USB Memory Sticks and Portable drives. (I also use the PortableApps suite - see Why You Want to Use Portable Freeware Applications and PortableApps Menu - Start All Your Portable Applications with 2 Clicks).

I will be reviewing many of the applications included in the suite over the coming weeks.

Pros: What’s Good?

• Links to numerous (1600+) other freeware portable applications

• Constantly Updated
  (but watch out, your favourite applications might be removed)
• Available in full and lite versions

Cons:What’s Not So Good?

• Anything I said here would be picky
• The Asuite Start Menu Launcher could be laid out better (but you can change and add to it)
  (so that’s me - picky )

A Little more on the Application Launcher

This is the preloaded icon but you can change this in the Asuite options. I use this icon as it stands out more clearly in my rather cluttered systray.

Left clicking on the systray icon brings up the following launcher menu:

Lupo PenSuite is a great pack of portable freeware programs and applications. I regularly use some of the utilities in my day to day computing. As noted at the start the suite is regularly updated with the latest revisions to the programs and new applications are added. You also need to watch for applications being dropped from the suite, all the information is in the Changelog at the Lupo website. So don’t delete your old suite until you have checked and saved anything you really need to keep. As I said at the start of this post I don’t particularly like the default layout of the Asuite menu which gives main headings such as “System” and “Extra” so you get “System” as a main heading and then as a subheading under “Extra”. It would seem that it would be better, but a little more work, to have “Extra” as a subheading under each relevant main heading. I also think some of the subheading under extra are worthy of being main headings. But this is’ as I said, “picky”.
