I have tried Linux briefly in a couple of ways. Using a boot cd (Knoppix)
installing a dual boot Ubuntu system a while back and also

I have only a little but it seems to me the newly released version of Ubuntu is the best way to go. Installing it via WUBI on a computer which already has windows is a piece of cake. It installs from within windows and operates from a 'virtual disk'. The real advantages are that it does not require any disk partitioning and it adds itself to the Windows boot loader only - it doesn't mess with your Windows boot records by installing Grub or Lilo. If you don't want to keep it you can uninstall it from the windows "Add-Remove" dialog. I have read a number of reviews but have not isntalled it myself - yet.
