More About What it Does in Detail:

FolderSize_SourceForge

The Sourceforge website  page gives the following details:

Folder Size for Windows adds a new column to the Windows Explorer details view that displays the sizes of files and folders. A service scans your hard disk in the background and caches the results. Designed for performance!

However, the problem is that “Folder Size” is very poor at publicising it’s capabilities.

If you want to realise the benefits of the ability to display folder size information then look at the website for commercial programs that provide the same sort of functionality such as Treesize!

Having installed Folder Size and running it the following is provided:

Please note again that the lack of information and help is a problem so don’t waste your time looking for it! However, this does not mean that Folder Size isn’t an excellent utility for you to use.

This review will follow the usual format of presenting the majority of information as screenshots backed up by further information where necessary.

Nice one. Don’t you one sometimes, why these things aren’t already included in Windows?

  2. Joe UNITED STATES Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0 says:

The website for FolderSize says it does not work with Vista because Microsoft removed the API FolderSize uses to create the foldersize column. Too bad, I was really hoping to use this app in Vista.

    Hi Joe,

Shame if it can’t be made to work with Vista, I think Foldersize is really useful. I sometimes think it’s a bit resource hungry which could do with looking at.

    Regards,

    Barry

  4. Maria UNITED STATES Mac OS X Safari 523.10 says:

It’s really funny since, you can do this on the mac natively.

  5. Guy AUSTRALIA Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0 says:

This is great. The fact that it adds to Windows Explorere rather than being a separate app is what I wanted. Sure there’s not much help but the app works well and is simple. That’s worth heaps to me.
