Posted by: Barry Cleave in Firefox Add-ons, tags: Add-ons, Firefox, Freeware, Independent Review, Software, Utilities, Windows, Windows XPMore About What it Does in Detail:
Autocopy installs just like any other Firefox add-on and is available at the Mozilla Add-ons website or at the Autocopy section of the mozdev.org website.
Note: At the time this post was written the latest version of the Autocopy extension was only available on the Autocopy Mozdev website
Quote from the Autocopy Home page:
Select text on any web page and it will be automatically copied to the clipboard. It works in much the same way as does Trillian or mIrc.
Paste on middle click into textboxes, the url bar, and the search bar.
and from the Autocopy documentation page:

Once installed Autocopy displays an icon in the Firefox stausbar:
when the Green tick shows Autocopy is set to copy selected text
When the Red cross is shown the Autocopy function is switched off.
The on/off function can be toggled with a left mouse click on the statusbar icon.
A right mouse click displays the following menu:
This allows some options to be quickly switched on or off. The functions are shown ticked when they are operational and are fairly obvious from the text. One thing you should be aware of is that the Middle Click Paste option only works within the Firefox webpage and maybe on some text boxes in the location bar and search box.
The main options screen can also be selected:
Again the options are all fairly clear from the screen text. The Autocopy documentation page give some more detailed explanations of the options and functions so is well worth reading for more detailed information.
When text is selected in Firefox with the Autocopy Context Menu option in enabled the following context menu is automatically displayed when the text has been selected:
This screenshot shows the previous clipboards sub-menu. You can also see that the selected text (first part of) is shown in the Search For option, this automatically opens a search page tab in Firefox.
