This is a good program for quick secure deletion. The fact that you can only drag and drop files and that if you add further files once deletion has started is not handled are slight annoyances but do not detract from the basic use of the program
Personally I rate this as:
Very Useful – Needs a little work
What Could Make it be Better?
- Adding files and folders via a file browser interface.
- Adding further files or folders once deletion has started

Cool tool. I have limited personal information on my computer but do worry about files that I have deleted being retrieved. This app should alleviate that concern for me. Another great find.

More and more of such programs will be needed. Cant believe some companies dont protect their computers and install such programs. Untill they get hit by theft they wont understand. Its like throwing away your harddisk and not damageing it phisically.

This means that if you have deleted files with the Windows OS CyberShredder can’t be used to overwrite the areas of the hardisk which may still contain sensitive information

Security is the main issues with most of the programs, promoted free of cost. I hope that there is spy ware installed in it.

When Windows deletes files from your hard disk using the standard delete or cut/paste methods it does not erase all the file details, just the index entry. So the file is still there you just can’t see it. There are plenty of free, portable programs available to recover such files ( see Recuva – Easy and Quick Way to Recover Deleted Photos and Files). Over time the “deleted” file may be overwritten by new files but this could be slow and is a random process. If you need to make sure personal details or other sensitive information is erased, for instance if you want to sell a hardrive or your old computer, then you need a program like CyberShredder. However see the “Cons” and “What Could Make it Better” sections below.
